,"After the Original Artist, only the copyist" John Muir
John Muir was a great naturalist, father of our national parks, and founder of the Sierra Club. He, of course, was referring to the radiant splendor of our mountains and forests. He also was witnessing the wonders of the universally spectacular creative intelligence of all naturally occurring phenomenon. He wasn't much of a fan of the effect of civilization on nature, but I'm going to give his quote an interpretation that I hope he wouldn't mind. When we gaze in wonder at the beauty of nature I think it would be a huge disservice to omit us, our bodies, minds, and spirits. We were/are engineered/created/evolved to reproduce, heal, create, grow strong and live life in peace and total enjoyment. If we live in accordance with our own creative intelligence. Our very hormonal system has checks and balances to keep us healthy and strong. It is when we stress this system out with man-made unnatural, addictive, poisonous, profit driven "foods" that we run into problems. Okay, a random example which I really love. Jack LaLanne at age 15 ditched his sugar addiction and went on to become the "father of fitness" and an inspiration to a new generation of fitness seekers. At age 70 he swam a mile...................pulling 70 row boats with 70 people.................for a mile, it took him 2 hours. He accomplished this with only real whole foods and consistent , dedicated movement. He loved it and so does anyone who starts this path of ancestral living and wellness. Most of us had no idea where this path would lead but most of us live now in a state of wonderment at the totally beautiful creative intelligence in and through all life. in health, (and creative intelligence) Rich couchpotatoprimalfit changing the world one person at a time couchpotatoprimalfit@gmail.com 402-525-5828

Do any of you want to lose a little weight?
Do any of you want to put on a little muscle mass? I've been living an ancestral lifestyle for about 5 years and have lost a little weight and have also put on a little muscle mass. I've accomplished this by mostly eating some fantastic real, whole foods, working on my mindset, you know my beliefs about myself and whats possible, and then adding mostly enjoyable movement to my lifestyle. I started at age 60 and am enjoying this journey. I've earned a primal health coach certification and also a personal trainer certification. But what I really want to do is to share this journey with you. I sometimes get sad and depressed when people my age start succumbing to all sorts of metabolic diseases like diabetes, cancer, obesity, and Alzheimers. I think that I can be of service to many of you guys and gals, let me correct that statement, I KNOW that I can be of service to many of you. I'm offering a 12 week coaching session (a $1500 value) to you for $500.00. Also, if you find value and improved health, if you desire I will coach you for another 8 weeks at no charge, would only request referrals and maybe a testimonial. You see, I'm serious about this health coaching business and I know that there is a great need for the support that only health coaches can offer. So, I encourage you to consider this offer and reach out to me so we can see if this is a fit for you! in health, Rich couchpotatoprimalfit changing the world one person at a time couchpotatoprimalfit@gmail.com 402-525-5828 So, five years ago, 2014, at age 60 I was a little dissatisfied at how I looked. Not the stud muffin I had hoped to be. Also, I thought I could just hit the track before a little two mile race and just kill it.
Well, I fell far short on both of these ideas, and further, my self-dissatisfaction reached new heights, (or lows) more appropriately. Just to be clear, I'm not advocating having feelings of low self esteem, or vanity about our appearance, I think we do this quite well all by ourselves. But I do believe most, if not all of us, think we can do much better in our lives in terms of weight and functionality. Back to my "story". After my realization of just how far off I was from my desired look and fitness level I kinda made a declaration to the universe that it was now or never for me and the now was infinitely more preferable. I came across an account online of a son whose father was scheduled for heart surgery. The son told his father to quit eating grains, the father did it and recovered, not needing heart surgery. Now I realize that this very well could have been fictitious, probably was, but to me it was calling me to quit the grains. In total naivety I went grain-less and also I must add that I added fats to my diet, (not trans fats) and started dropping weight. I also kept trying to run, very difficult, maybe 5 miles a week or less. I started at 215lbs and in approximately three months was down to 170. I was gratefully amazed at this result and kept learning why this happened, which lead to my course work in ancestral health and primal health and my certification as a health coach. Now, of course, there is a lot more to the story, but this is the basic outline. I have hover around 175 to 185 now four years later as I continue my experiment with food and lifestyle tweaks. Two more thoughts I would like to share; 1- one of the most common initial reactions that people have after experiencing the amazing transformation they go through is RAGE. That's right RAGE, because nobody told them about this way of eating, in fact they/we were and are told the exact opposite. That being the old, outdated, ineffective advise of whole grains and low fat. It doesn't work, obviously, worldwide obesity. 2- it's not your fault! You have been misinformed. You have been told it's your fault, you need to exercise more and eat less. BS You just have to eat real food, more healthy fats, and much less carbohydrates. And again, there is more to the story, but that's the basics. We all have slightly different goals and pasts, but we all share an amazing amount of nutritional similarity. I have been there and done that! My goal is to help prevent others from possibly the common "fate" of our time, which is the common diseases we see around us. As they say at Walmart "I'm happy to help you" in health, Rich couchpotatoprimalfit changing the world one person at a time Okay, so what do I mean when I constantly refer to being primal, or going primal?
I had a wonderful experience yesterday as I participated in the baptism of a 6 week old child.
You know I'm kind of an anatomical/physiology nerd, so while others were looking at the infant and thinking how cute he was and oh listen to the cute little cries (he actually was very peaceful most of the time) I was imagining all the amazing work going on in his new body. Six weeks old, so that means that he has been developing from the union of two cells for approximately 10 1/2 months! Truly awesome and awe inspiring. As I held him I could almost feel his parasympathetic nervous system humming with vital creative energy. His brain in a constant state of further development his muscles, bones, all his organs in primal development, nervous system, cardiovascular system. He wasn't sleeping, he was and is involved in very important evolutionary inspired body building! So, I look forward to his continued development. And so as I think about this I also realize that this amazing creative intelligence that formed each and every one of us is still within us, It hasn't left us, no matter where we are in life's continuum. Sometimes some of think that we're too old to change or reverse the damage done or even worse we think that our current state of unhealth is a normal part of aging, FALSE! Our bodies want us to live awesome lives. If that primal blueprint is in each of our DNA then perhaps all we need to do is tap into it. In other words live in accordance to our ancient yet current heritage. Just some thoughts Primally yours Rich couchpotatoprimalfit changing the world one person at a time www.couchpotatoprimalfit@gmail.com 402-525-5828 What does that word mean to you?
For many people the word healthy conjures up images of bland lettuce and starvation and really boring foods. Does this describe you? Often we think of it as a goody goody type thing, almost a negative moral issue. And by so doing we put it in an undesirable category. But really we just don't believe we could ever truly become healthy, that's for someone else not me. Something else making it easier for us to abstain from our naturally inherited birth-rite of awesome health is the confusing monetarily influenced "advice" from the medical conglomerate. Don't get me wrong, we need our talented doctors and nurses, for acute problems especially. The problem is that the focus seems to be on disease and treatment, not proactive health that prevents or lessens diseases. The old adage, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, is very true. Take the insurance industry for example. They aren't interested in helping with medical payments until it's too late, until you are really ill and then they will "help" not interested in proactive health. It would lessen their profits, and once more they aren't trained in health, only sickness. But unfortunately we really need these disease interventions, because we are constantly being given harmful dietary and lifestyle advice from those we are conditioned to trust. What started me on the health journey after a few years of wistful wanting and hoping to somehow get "in shape" was an inspiring and maybe fictitious article about a son telling his sick father to stop eating wheat and of course the father did and recovered. It was enough for me to try it! At age 60 I eliminated grains and ate fats and grass-fed beef and lots of brocoli (initially) and lost 45 pounds in approximately 3 months. I was and still am amazed! I now eat when I'm hungry, eat till satisfied, eat amazing food and some not so amazing, but having that initial boot out of grains was essential. I have to mention that one of my "whys" was to be able to run, so that was part of my journey and still is. So, find your why, and doggedly pursue your inheritance of optimal health. It starts with your next meal and next meal and so on. in health, Rich couchpotatoprimalfit changing the world one person at a time |
